Our Company

Two decades of solar.
One region.

FreeState Solar is a community solar developer based in Tivoli, New York. We have been working in the solar industry for over twenty years and have been developing projects specifically in New York for more than a decade.

Experience that matters

Our team's experience spans the full project lifecycle — from initial site screening and interconnection analysis through permitting, financing, procurement, and construction management. We have worked on solar farms ranging from a few acres to well over 100 acres across New York and the Northeast.

We have spent more than ten years developing projects under New York's community solar program, working closely with landowners, local municipalities, and the interconnection process to move projects from concept to construction.

Where we work

FreeState focuses exclusively on the Capital District and surrounding region — from Lake George south to Hudson, and west through the Mohawk Valley. Our primary territory is National Grid's Zone F, covering Albany, Rensselaer, Columbia, Schoharie, Washington, and adjacent counties.

This geographic focus is not a limitation — it is a deliberate strategy. We know the local permitting bodies, the grid infrastructure, the land market, and the communities. That knowledge compresses timelines and reduces project risk.

How we work

FreeState operates as a lean developer under New York's community solar program. We have spent more than a decade working within the state's interconnection and siting processes, and we know how to move projects efficiently from greenfield through construction.

We take a direct, straightforward approach to every relationship. No intermediaries, no excess overhead. You deal with the people who made the decisions.
